This means that front-end interfaces are required to interact with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orchestra Finance is the first front end for the XRPL AMM, a critical feat as the AMM has been in development for years and is nearing its mainnet debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, I\u2019ll cover how the XRPL\u2019s AMM works, and why Orchestra\u2019s front-end AMM is significant to progress in this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DeFi &#8211; A Quick Primer<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blockchains like Ethereum have decentralized exchanges (DEXs) that execute trades, using algorithms to establish asset prices. DEXs relying upon this algorithmic pricing are known as Automated Market Makers (AMMs), and they\u2019re quite popular with over <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/protocols\/dexes\">1,000+<\/a><\/span> in existence.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An AMM is one of the most integral DeFi components of a blockchain network, enabling users to trade in a permissionless manner. That being said, having so many DEXs fragments liquidity, as each DEX has a separate liquidity pool for each asset pair. For example, each DEX would have a separate USDC\/ETH pool that requires liquidity. Where does this liquidity come from? Users provide it, known as \u201cliquidity providers\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The XRPL is unique in that its AMM is built into the network itself, with only a single liquidity pool for each asset pair. This contrasts with typical blockchains that have many different liquidity pools, fragmenting liquidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that it\u2019s built into the network itself, users need an easy-to-use interface, which Orchesta Finance provides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orchestra Finance is a notable project aiming to provide an easy-to-use interface for XRPL interactions, though it&#8217;s not the sole endeavor in this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a closer look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Orchestra Finance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orchestra provides users with easy access to AMM functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Swaps:<\/strong> Trade any XRPL asset from a simple interface.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liquidity Provision:<\/strong> Provide liquidity to any pools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fee Voting: <\/strong>A form of governance, whereby liquidity providers (LPs) can vote on the transaction fee for any given liquidity pool. Typically, only the top 8 LPs have their votes counted, but if one of the fails to vote, other user votes are counted as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And since AMM on XRPL is built into the chain itself, it doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;ve added liquidity somewhere else &#8211; you can see it on the Orchestra Finance website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ve also integrated the XRPL\u2019s <em>Continuous Auction<\/em> mechanism, a feature that I covered <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lachlanalextodd\/status\/1650561766055706626\">here<\/a>.<\/span> It enables parties to bid for the right to trade at very low fees for 24 hours, with the winning bids (of each liquidity pool) compensating liquidity providers and counteracting impermanent loss. This is useful for arbitrageurs, as they do high-frequency trading and therefore benefit from near-zero trading fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What about the team?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s comprised of 9 anonymous developers with <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LegatoOrchestra\">Legato<\/a><\/span><\/strong> leading the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They<strong> <\/strong>currently support both <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/crossmark.io\/\">Crossmark<\/a> <\/span>and <a href=\"https:\/\/gemwallet.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gem<\/span><\/a>, with plans to support Xumm, Ledger, D\u2019Cent, and WalletConnect shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/_zTB-lAu4mvRh1kgGstZdxOG02hDu1fWGyitBNs20Xl8GUaunneZclX_VePLofdJPtPai6gk3OKoMeQtW1lVVfxxLLMglQUJMEDQ3xqvnUM528WPpKw4iDE_hWsaYA18_fgR4bQX4fgM9sNsW2IcfEw\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A few other projects are building out AMM interfaces as well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/anodos.finance\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anodos Finance<\/span>:<\/a> Building various XRPL apps and tools, including a trading, liquidity provision, and portfolio management platform for the XRPL\u2019s AMM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sologenic.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sologenic<\/span><\/a>: A community-driven ecosystem with various products such as an asset tokenization platform, a decentralized exchange, and CBDC solutions. They\u2019re also building a UI for the AMM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/xpmarket.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">XP Market<\/span>:<\/a> A platform for accessing all that the XRPL has to offer, including DeFi and NFTs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I suspect that projects will differentiate through their user experience and the amount of products offered in a single platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orchestra Finance, the front end for XRPL&#8217;s Automated Market Maker (AMM), offers users a seamless interface for trading, liquidity provision, and fee voting.
